Cherimoya Season

It’s getting close to Cherimoya season again, and it’s really cool to be getting such great fruit around the holidays. The fruit is one of my favorites, as I have said before.

The Elephant Heart and Santa Rosa Cherimoyas pictured are two of the best tasting in my opinion. Elephant Heart is not only a huge fruit, it has less seeds than most and is absolutely delicious.

Cherimoyas don’t require tons of water, the trees will produce with less than half of what an avocado tree needs, which here in Southern California is a real plus. The only drawback is that they need hand pollinating, but the little time it takes to do that is well worth the effort.
