A San Diego Gate full of Symbolism

This client definitely has an artisitic side though professionally she is an attorney. I think she had been planning this gate for a long time. She provided me with all the rough design elements and their placement on the gate. My job was to refine her ideas into a working design, entailing a full-scale layout and functioning gate and surround. And then of course doing all the cutting, welding, grinding, finishing and installation. It was a fun job to see the concept come to fruition.

The home is on the Northern edge of San Diego by Del Mar. The bronze finish I used is a catalyzed automotive finish which will last many years. I also hand-forged all the levers and incorporated an electric lock so the gate could be opened from inside the house.
