Dutch Front Door with Hand Carved Lambs on a Hillside

As I have said before, anytime I get to include nature themes in my work, I love it. A client in Solana Beach, who I had done much work for in the past, asked me to design a front door for her Country French home, and she wanted the door to be a Dutch door. She is an avid animal lover who mentioned a few of her favorite animals, lambs being in the top of her list for their sweetness and cuteness. I came up with the design of a mother sheep with her young lamb, standing in an open field of grass and trees with the feeling of wind blowing and the grass swaying. Without hesitation she said yes! The door is made of solid cherry, the iron hardware is imported from France, and the carving is all hand done in heavy relief. It's a beautiful door with a bit of whimsy. And being a Dutch door makes it a real individual statement of Country French style.
