The Wine Cellar Door, an entrance like no other

The wine cellar door holds surprises for whoever opens it. It's not just a door to casually open and it's not just a room to simply pass through. The wine cellar door is the entrance to someone's passionate hobby, and not just any hobby but a true love for wine. So that door must be special. It could look mysterious, like it holds the secrets of it's owner. It could be whimsical and fun, just like the wine that is hidden behind it. Whatever style of wine cellar door you put in, it's a very personal choice. I love designing wine cellar doors. There is a real connection between the owner of the home and his/her wine door. Here are just a few examples of some of the wine cellar doors I have designed and built.

above:  Hand-forged iron wine door with glass panel forming seal on inside.

above:  This wine cellar door, made out of solid white oak, has the image of the owner of the home carved into it. This was a very fun project for me.

above:  This was an old prison door that I made into a wine cellar door and added an inside glass panel for sealing in the cold.

above: Beautiful heavily carved wine door, made of solid hickory.

above: Not a door, but an entrance to the wine cellar. This arched pass-through is made of solid butternut and heavily carved with grape vines.
