In the French Style

One of the things I like about French furniture, and that goes for French-style doors as well, is the French's appreciation for nature. So much of the French antique-design focus is on plants, animals, birds, and insects and I don't know of a country that did a better job of it. The French carvings are more delicate and capture the very feeling and essence of the plants and animals they were depicting. Even the work coming from the provinces, though more simplified, still had that essence in the work. Spanish carvings are very bold and heavy, the English, while very precise, often miss the soul of the work.

It's those differences that make the furniture or doors fit the French style I replicate. It's a feeling, a frame of mind that one must embody as a craftsperson first, before picking up the tools and wood, and starting to work.
