The Beauty of Hand Carving and Stunning Wood

I have done work for many years for these clients at their homes in Tahoe, Sun Valley, Idaho, and Rancho Santa Fe, CA, and they are always great to work with, always allowing artistic freedom within the style of their home and surrounding landscape. They love the outdoors and many of the designs I come up with for them are inspired by nature. This home in Rancho Santa Fe is more contemporary and my work reflects that style with a nature theme.

This year they wanted a beautiful cabinet for their large screen TV. Since they are nature lovers, I always try to incorporate some sort of wildlife in their carvings. (Their front entry in Idaho is a majestic carved elk and their coffee table has a base of swimming rainbow trout.) The ducks on this cabinet were placed so that they appear to be flying. The wood I chose is solid Oregon quilted maple, an absolutely stunning wood. Behind the doors is all the stereo and TV equipment, enough storage space to hide everything. The face of the cabinet is curved, which I designed to follow the curve of the TV screen. This is truely a unique piece of furniture!
