Contemporary Garage Door and Gates in Del Mar, CA

On many homes the first thing you see when you drive up is the garage door and gate and walls. In the last few years more people are incorporating custom designed and built garage doors and gates as an important design feature of the architecture of the home and a place the homeowner can express their design style.
This home in Del Mar, CA, with panoramic ocean views, was definitely looking for a contemporary horizontal feeling. I aligned the lines of the two gates and garage door to flow together nicely, but changed the design of each element ever so slightly so as to appear similar but not routine, creating a garage door and gates that are welcoming and appealing upon arrival.
They are made of solid matched mahogany with a fine exterior finish on both the inside and outside face, such as you would find on one of my entry doors with stainless steel hardware and etched glass. This completely changed the quality and feeling of the front of the home.
