Valances

We have made a lot of different types of architectural detailing over the years. That's what I love about the work my shop does, we get to do so many different types of work. Combining materials and designs not thought of often is one of my specialties. And one of these architectural elements is the valance.

Most of the time the valance blends into the wall or fabric drapes over it and is meant to cover drapery rods. Of course, this is appropriate in some cases and a missed opportunity in others.

The valances shown in the below photos do both. Some add an artistic element to the room, while others add detail to finish the window treatment.
