Bedroom Furniture in the French Style

I received a call from a young newlywed couple in Del Mar, CA, wanting two chests of drawers and storage for their bedroom in the French style, with hand carving. The carved design they wanted was "his" and "hers" state flowers on the doors. This special design will have meaning for them their whole lives and their future family's lives as well.

Their home has a 1920's bungalow feel, very warm and charming, with a mix of furniture styles that work well for their home. They like well-made furniture, and see it as a lifetime investment, something to be handed down to their children. 

We chose solid black walnut, a wood that fits well with French furniture because of it's fine grain and warm hues, and also because it's an excellent carving wood. I then chose solid crotch walnut panels in the drawers to highlight the beauty of the wood and furniture piece. They selected stone panels to fit into a frame of walnut in the top, cut to my specifications. They are truly beautiful pieces.
