Tasmanian Rose Myrtle Campaign-Style Desk

I was commissioned to design and build this classic campaign-styled desk by a client of mine in Rancho Santa Fe who I have done lots of previous projects with in probably every room of her home. She likes the lines to be not too fussy and not too contemporary, with a balance of details and elements of different materials that compliment each other. And if I do a natural finish on the wood (which 9 times out of 10 I do), she wants the wood to be spectacular!

I have wood suppliers from all over the world including Europe, Mexico, South America, Africa, and Tasmania. And I also have over 30 mills in the United States that have hundreds of woods available for me to choose from.

After I designed the desk she asked what special wood I might find. After looking for several weeks I found a thick, large, live-edge slab of Tasmanian Rose Myrtle that was outstanding and just large enough to make the desk. I added copper elements to go along with the campaign desk style. She wanted a high gloss finish, which made the wood shine like highly-polished stone. It's a truly amazing piece!
