A Nature-Themed Idaho Home

Nature always inspires me. So when clients tell me they live on a large property with a running creek shared with wild animals I get inspired!

A couple, who live in Sun Valley, Idaho, called me and said they wanted a carved door for a home they were building next to a national park. They described the property as forested with meadows, with a large creek running next to where the house was to be built. Elk, deer, and the occasional moose would meander on their property, coming into the yard very close to the building site. They loved seeing the wildlife freely walking through the yard, that was one of the reasons they were moving to the area. I suggested carving a majestic elk on the front door with clouds carved in glass, and without hesitation they agreed wholeheartedly.

They also wanted a large coffee table that would reflect their environment. I came up with the design of rainbow trout swimming through driftwood, with a glass table top to resemble water in the creek. It worked out beautifully as you can see in the pictures below.

When I finished the entry door, I drove it to Sun Valley to install it. The house was not yet complete at this time. Once the house was finished I made a second trip to delivery the coffee table. It was an unforgettable drive through beautiful country and I could see why they wanted nature-themed pieces for their home.
