Lemon Tree with Birds Art Glass

As I have spoken about in a past blog, I developed my own techniques for carving, hand-painting and fusing art glass in a kiln (my blog under the Glass Art category, July 2013). Much of my art glass is featured in my entryways and doors, as I feel the entryway is the first thing a person sees when coming up to your home, the first intimate meeting of the outside world with your world. But I also often feature my art glass in more personal areas of the home, such as a bedroom or powder room.

The Lemon Tree with Birds glass is my most recent project. It's featured in a small powder room. This glass adds an element of privacy as the background has a subtle texture to it. And it enhances the bathroom much better than a painting would. The light comes through beautifully, illuminating the lemons. The birds add a cheery welcome to the room. And the little pink flowers tell of more lemons to come. The home is an older Arts and Crafts style and this window looks like it has been there for 40 years, fitting perfectly with the style of the home.

With my special techniques, I can create any design, and one that flows beautifully, without lead lines or broken up areas to disturb the image. Art glass can work in almost any situation, be it in a front entryway, in a china cabinet, in a light fixture, in a kitchen cabinet door, even in a piece of furniture such as a coffee table. The applications are endless, as are the design possibilities. Take a look through my website, there are many examples of my glass work.
