My Design Style
I've spoken of a number of different styles in my past blog posts, including, but not limited to, French, Spanish, Mexican, English, Arts and Crafts, etc. But I have spoken very little on my personal style of design, in part because I love all styles when well designed and executed. But let me speak a little about the soul of what I like, in which I incorporate bits and pieces of what I love. This is true of all artists and craftsmen, you can't help but incorporate a part of yourself in your work. That is what makes hiring that special artist/craftsman so much more satisfying than purchasing something that has been mass produced into a kind of cookie-cutter monotony.
So what is my style? I have a specific connection with nature that I am compelled to express any chance I get. There is such a perfect beauty and joy in so much of nature. A leaf, a bird, the sound of wind moving branches, rolling hills with trees and flowers perfectly placed, even a person, nothing the same, always changing. The delight of dolphins, the majestic wild animal, even the smallest insects, they are all a part of that wondrous and magical thing called nature. The natural world in all its beauty, a beauty that cannot possibly be mass produced, because just as every snowflake is different, so is everything in nature. And that perfect imperfection is what I strive for.
