The Art of Woodworking
I have run across many talented people in many fields over the years and I still get excited when meeting someone that is really good at what they do, whatever it is. Most people work to make a living so they can travel and do other things, which is completely understandable. But it's not often to meet someone who works their craft because they love it and they want to be the best they can be. In other words, they live to master their skills to perfection. They may be educated, but just as likely they could be self taught and almost always have worked for many years very hard and long to achieve the level of expertise they possess. I feel the process starts with a deep interest and some natural abilities, but the natural abilities aren't necessarily a prerequisite. Through work, time, many mistakes, and never-ending pursuit, the craftsmanship is developed. If the craftsmanship is continued to be worked on and expanded the artist/craftsman emerges. This many take 10, 20, 30 or more years but it will take place. It's always a pleasure to meet and work with someone on this path.
